Qasr Bayir place was built in the Umayyad era by Al Walid II (743-4) AD before he became khalifa. This site is among many other palaces built in the Jordanian desert. Before its destruction in 1931, its masonry was used by Beake Pasha to build a modern outpost of the Arab legion. The general direction seems to point 4.22° from Mecca. More investigation needs to happen to accurately determine the ancient walls and the Qibla direction. |
